“And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Have you ever been fishing? I have and although I am not a skilled fisherman, I do recognize that different types of bait work better for different types of fish.
The same goes for our youth, what once caught and lead us to Christ may not do the same for them. Old church hymns may not open their spiritual ears to an entirely new world of praise and worship music as some of the latest contemporary gospel songs may. It’s the same biblically sound content using a different bait and beat.
We must get out of the spiritual boxes of comfortability and spread our spiritual wings in order to reach those in need of the gospel. Most of our youth are not intentionally rebellious when it comes to serving God they just haven’t received the right bait.
– My son loves certain Christian Hip Hop artist along with many other contemporary gospel artist/groups, lyrical the content is biblical sound and it allows him to truly get lost in worship.
– The church must upgrade their bait before they cast their nets. Everything in this world has upgraded except for the church in most cases and our young people are turning away at alarming rates.
– Don’t be so quick to judge them. In a different time we were once in their shoes so minister to them with the same grace that God gives us.
– They are just “kids or young” is not an excuse to allow them to fall thru the cracks. God can use anyone at any age.
What’s in your spiritual tackle box today?
Can it be used for all or some?
Remember the enemy wants our youth so badly that he will continue to upgrade his bait to reel them in.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
