Wounded Souls:

Let me start by saying I know this is not the most pleasant title to read about it. But, let’s be honest we’ve all been there. Hurt is real whether it’s emotional or physical we’ve all felt it. But, what I’m going to write about today is that emotional, gut wrenching hurt. Let’s face it, hurt usually starts at an early age for most it could be either your parents divorcing or experiencing the lose of someone close to you it all hurts and leaves a huge imprint on your heart.

I see emotional hurt as destinations and your heart as a map. As we go thru life getting let down, our hearts broken or rejected it leaves a stamp on that part of your heart kind of like an “I was hurt here marker” more than likely followed by a caution or stop sign to follow. Because, emotional hurt touches your soul and sometimes if it’s too great can even break you. We must as the Bible says in Proverbs 4 “to guard our heart above all else for it determines the course of your life…”

Now what happens when you experienced a life time of emotional hurt and your heart is full of those “ugly little I was hurt here markers?” You find yourself asking God will you ever find love? Or will someone ever be able to love you with all of that baggage that you’ve collected over this life long trip of hurt.

The answer is Yes!!! Matthew 11:28 NLT says “β€œThen Jesus said, β€œCome to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” This may sound cliche but, truthfully speaking, seeking God is the only way to truly erase all of those “I was hurt here markers” and replace them with “I’ve been set free here”, “the chains have been broken here” and “no longer will the strongholds bind me here”. Jesus is and will always be the answer and always remember he loves you too much to leave you at that dead end…
